Kelci Gibbons Obituary
Born in Plains Township, Kelci was the daughter of Raymond R. and Kelly McCue Gibbons, Dallas. She was a graduate of Dallas Area High School, Class of 2008. She attended Cazenovia College, Cazenovia, N.Y.; Hartwick College, Oneonta, N.Y.; and King's College, Wilkes-Barre.
Kelci currently worked as the front desk clerk at the Hampton Inn, Wilkes-Barre.
She played in various youth soccer and other sports programs throughout her life and was a proud member of the 2007 State Championship Dallas Area High School soccer team. Kelci was active in various clubs and functions throughout her high school career, including the high school's dance marathon benefitting childhood cancer research.
Kelci was a life resident of Dallas and was working toward her lifetime goal, moving to California for the "sun and surf."
Preceding her in death were her maternal great-grandparents, Daniel and Theresa McCue; paternal great-grandmother, Stella Yurkin; paternal grandfather, Frederick Gibbons; and uncle, Robert Gibbons.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her older brother, Brian Gibbons, Dallas; identical twin sister, Michelle, Dallas, who was born 12 minutes after Kelci; maternal grandmother, Patricia McCue, Dallas; maternal grandfather, Conrad (Murph) Hislop, Harveys Lake; paternal grandparents, Mary Ann and Ronald Strohl, Trucksville; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
People keep asking if there is anything they can do. There is. We want to celebrate Kelci's life and not mourn her death. There will be no formal funeral or viewing (that's not Kelci), but instead the greatest celebration of life we can plan. We need help. We need music and memories, songs, photos and videos. We need people to tell stories about Kelci and share her life. We need to come together in peace and love just as Kelci would want. Tie-dye and peace signs are optional but appreciated. Outdoor arrangements are pending.

Dear Gibbons family, We did not know Kelci and were unaware of what was being celebrated across the street from our home on Sandy Beach last night. I want you to know that it was the most beautiful outpouring of love we have ever seen. I did walk over to inquire and was so impressed by the love and respect of so many. I lost my 25 year old son in Iraq a few years ago and I know the healing of celebrating a life. We were on the porch last night when the Luminaria lifted into the night sky over the lake and I was breathless at the scope of such a peaceful and beautiful tribute. It was an awesome and inspiriational vision I will carry the rest of my life. Kelci, I'm sure, not only from all I've read but also from all I felt last night - was truly a magnificent young woman that will continue to inspire and influence many for a very long time. Thank you for sharing your memories.... Everytime I look out at the night sky over the lake, I will say a prayer for all the lives Kelci touched.

On July 24, 2012 we lost our beautiful daughter, Kelci. We are choosing to celebrate her life and not mourn her passing. The Celebration of her life will be At Sandy Bottom Beach Club, Harveys Lake, PA on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 5 pm.
The outpouring of love since this has happened has been amazing. We asked for help and we were flooded with it. There will be music and memories, songs, photos and videos. We've heard so many beautiful stories about her life and we can't wait to hear more. This night will be a celebration. We will all come together in peace and love just as Kelci would want. Tie-dye and peace signs are optional but appreciated.
We know many of you are out of town and cannot physically attend, but we know you are here in spirit. If there is something you wish to contribute, please send it.
Much love to all of you. Your love and support have awed, inspired and held us up. Your messages, stories, hugs, gifts of food, kind words and every other thing you've done for us have helped more than you will ever know. We feel the love, we really do. We are blessed and humbled and will be honored that you celebrate Kelci's amazing life with us. See you soon.

Dear Gibbons Family,
Words can never be put into the right order to express our sorrow for the loss of Kelci.
I will never forget the girls countless sleepovers. It has been a joy to watch Kelci grow up from a bubbly child and into a beautiful woman. When Kelci was in our house even our pets where happy. We loved it when she would bring her dog, Lucky, over to have a sleep over as well.
You are all in our prayers. We know Kelci is in heaven and always in our hearts and treasured memories.

I am a guest/customer at the Wilkes Barre Hilton Hotel where I stay every week and I didn't know Kelci on a personal level,but what I did know is she was a breath of fresh air. No matter what you needed she always was so accommadating and pleasant. My deepest sympathy to the entire family, I know it's a very difficult loss for the family who loved her so much, because I was just a guest at the hotel where she worked and my heart is tremendously heavy. May God give your family comfort at this time and the days to come. When I read that you were going to Celebrate her life and not mourn her passing, it seemed so fitting from what I saw in Kelci.

I recently met Kelci through work. She was a kind, gentle, fun-loving individual. She was well regarded by her colleagues, and was recognized for providing exemplary service to our guests. Although I only worked with kelci for a short time she was one of my favorite people to see walking in the door. She was always smiling and easy going quick to share some onion rings lol. Believe me we went through some onion rings hehe. I will never forget the day she came down the hill to the shop riding her bike and as soon as we saw each other we just started laughing. I told her she looked like she belonged on a boardwalk or a mary poppins movie lol she was just smiling having fun like she always did. One time i took her boyfriend home and she was so appreciative even offering me money for gas. When my sister joined the team at pizza bella she immediately took to kelci her kind smile and laugh instantly drew you in. I consider it a blessing to have known her she definetly brightened my day whenever I was in her presence. Much love and prayers go out to all her family and friends. God Bless you all.

I didn't know Kelci at all but was also a graduate of a 2008 high school class. It's a shame to lose someone so young, but important to remember the amazing life she had and the people that were in it, who will undoubtedly carry her spirit on through the years.

unfortunately I only met Kelci a few times when she was very young. What a beautiful woman she grew into just like her mom. I know she will stay with the family in their hearts and live on forever in peace. I will take joy in knowing she touched so many people for 22 years and her life will be celebrated and carry on through those people. I love you Kelly.

Dear Gibbons Family,
We are so sorry and shocked to learn of the loss of your precious Kelci. Unfortunately we know all too well what you are going through. It should be comforting to know that our CC was without a doubt, right there to welcome Kelci along with many other angels who are all thrilled to see her. Both our girls are surrounded by more love than we can even imagine. If they can't be here with us, in God's arms is the best place for them hands down.
Just as we did, you will learn that you have more friends than you ever knew. Our community is full of giving and caring people and they will show their love to you just as they did to us. Lean on your family and close friends, they want nothing more than to help lessen your pain. Although that now seems impossible, in time, lighthearted times spent with family and friends will do just that, if only for a little while.
Stay strong for each other, don't forget to laugh and smile just as Kelci did, and know that we are here for you whenever you need us.
