Margaret W. Gravell, "Peg," 88, of West Pittston, passed away Tuesday evening, June 5, 2018, in Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre under the care of Celtic Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Paul E. Gravell.

Peg resided her entire life along the banks of the Susquehanna River in either West Pittston or Meshoppen.

Born Jan. 1, 1930, Peg was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel Loveland Watson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Peg was preceded in death by her brother, Malcolm L. Watson, and sister, Ruth E. Carpenter.

She is survived by five children, Wayne Gravell and his wife, Mickie, Wilmington, Del.; Diane Frisco, Philadelphia; David T. Gravell, Effort; Paul Jeffrey Gravell and his wife, Susan, Lake Ariel; and Cheryl Walsh and her husband, Richard, West Pittston; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Judith Hornstra and her husband, Jack, Sparta, N.J.; and nephew, Paul Thomas Carpenter, Honesdale, and family.

Peg had been an active member of First Presbyterian Church, West Pittston, since childhood. Her involvement included being a Sunday school teacher, Women's Association member and officer, choir member, and serving as the church secretary for 25 years. Additionally, Peg was active in the community. She served as a volunteer at the Tyler Memorial Hospital and participated in activities for the Tunkhannock Library Association.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church of West Pittston, located at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming. The Rev. James Thyren will officiate.

Interment will be private in Memorial Shrine Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her dedication to her church with a contribution to First Presbyterian Church, West Pittston, 40 Institute St., Wyoming, PA 18644.
