Marla Elaine Hunter, 32, of Wilkes-Barre died unexpectedly Sunday, July 14, 2013, at home.

Marla was born in Wilkes-Barre on Jan. 27, 1981, and was the daughter of James and Nancy Hunter of Wilkes–Barre.
Marla graduated from E.L. Meyers High School in 1999, and furthered her education at Bloomsburg University, from where she graduated in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in sociology.
She worked at Pennsylvania Child Health Care in 2004, and then took a job with Luzerne County Children and Youth until the present.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Benjamin and Mary Hunter, New York, N.Y.; and Herman and Mary Reh, Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of St. Mary's Antiochian Orthodox Church.
Marla is survived by her parents, James and Nancy Hunter, Wilkes-Barre; twin sister, Malinda Hunter, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Megan Toney and her husband, Robert Toney, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Mary Lavin and her husband, Michael Lavin, Wilkes-Barre; and her love of her life, her dog, Candice. Marla is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Marla was very well known for her loving nature and care for all people and animals. Contributions may be given to the SPCA, Fox Hill Road, Plains Township, PA 18702.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with services at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Antiochian Orthodox Church, 905 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Marla had the ability to brighten up the peoples' lives of whom she met.
