Maurice R. Matthews, 88, formerly of Harveys Lake, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 in the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.

Born in Binghamton, N.Y. he was the son of the late Clarence and Bertha (Lewis) Matthews. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Natona Mills, formerly of Dallas. He was a former member of the Bowman's Creek Free Methodist Church.
Maurice was and avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with his friends and grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a son Mark Matthews and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving is his wife of 70 years, the former Mildred Crispell; daughters Marlene Logwood and her husband, David, Rustburg, Va.; Joyce Taylor and her husband, Donald, Berwick; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Nulton-Kopcza Funeral Home, 5749 State Route (Beaumont), Monroe Township, with the Rev. Bradley Dendler officiating.
Interment will be in Orcutt Grove Cemetery, Noxen.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
