Michael J. Krall Sr., 93, of Port Blanchard passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Sept. 1, 1917, in Port Blanchard, he was the son of the late George and Sidonia Kolumbus Krall.

He attended various schools in Pittston and was a prior life member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston, where he served as an usher and belonged to the Holy Name Society.

Currently, he was a member of St. Jon the Evangelist Church, Pittston.

He was a member of the Sokols and was very active in Jenkins Township politics.

Michael was a certified welder, worked in the New Jersey shipyards and was a supervisor-foreman at Mushkin Steel, Moosic, until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen, and sister, Ann Barker.

Michael was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and he will be sadly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, the former Louise Gowisnok; son, Michael J. Krall Jr. and his wife, Mary, Spring, Texas; daughter, Mary Lou Kern and her husband, Richard, Laflin; grandchildren, Michael J. Krall III, Mary Ellen Doucet, Patrick J. Krall, Christopher and Kaitlyn Kern; great-grandchildren, Michael J. IV, Alison, Natalie, Audrey, Emily and Patrick Krall, Ellie, Teddy, Tommy and Grace Doucet; brothers and sisters, George, Luzerne; John, New York; Emily Loughney, Pittston; and David, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, with Monsignor John J. Bendik officiating.

Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schooley Street, Exeter.

Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass on Saturday.

The family would like to thank the staff of Complete Home Care, especially his angel, Michele, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Wilkes-Barre, for the loving care and compassion that Mike received.
