Mildred A. Hanahan, 82, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 13, 2017, in Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital of Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Mildred was the daughter of the late Joseph and Leona Sobolowski Snitko.

Mildred was employed by Wilkes University until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hanahan; daughter, Theresa Nearhoof; brothers, Joseph, John and Stanley Snitko; and sisters, Valeria Makowski, Anne Boyle and Josephine Teri.

Surviving are her sons, Ralph and Richard Hanahan, Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Helen Oriole, Poconos; Agnes Sabol, New Jersey; Jean Curtis and Theresa Levy, Plains Twp.; and Florence Belcastro, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Shawn and Christine Hanahan and Johnathan and Justin Nearhoof; and great-grandchildren, Breonna Hanahan and Giovanni, Ja'Brell and Deon Martin.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital of Wilkes-Barre for all their kindness and care of Mildred and her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Twp. with the Rev. John C. Lambert, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.

Family and friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass Friday in Ss. Peter and Paul Church.
