Peter Wasenda Obituary
Peter was born in Newport Twp. on Oct. 9, 1928, son of the late Peter and Mary Danchak Wasenda.
He was a graduate of Newport High School and had been a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542.
Peter was a member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Hanover section of Nanticoke.
Preceding him in death were his wife of 50 years, the former Norma Jean Repotski; and son, Paul Wasenda.
Surviving are daughters, Mary Jo Rushin, Pittston; Susan Boyek and husband, Charles, Dallas; and Elizabeth Wasenda, New Jersey; grandsons, Nicholas and Michael; and two great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services were held from St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, followed by entombment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Arrangements were by Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home Inc., 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke.
The family would like to thank the Sisters of Mercy and staff of Mercy Personal Care Center, Dallas, and also, Dr. John Ellis and his staff and Dr. Nick Ruggiero Jr. and his staff at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Center Nursing Unit, 301 Lake St., Dallas, PA 19612.

Susie, Elizabeth & Marijo, Your Dad was a great guy. He was kind, friendly and compassionate. He was so peaceful when he was coloring in his books or taking his walks. I will miss him dearly.

Pete was an amazing person. I loved our conversations while he stayed at Mercy Center. He reminded me of my own father in every way, a sweet loving hard working family kind of guy. I will definitely miss him. God bless him and his family
