Raymond Fontenova of Lakeville passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Smith Nursing Center, Wright Township.

Born Jan. 1, 1926 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Dominick and Dora Domico Fontenova. He was a veteran of World War II surviving in the Navy, and former brakeman for many railroads in New York for more than 40 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He and his wife, the former Wanda Lori, would have celebrated their 65 wedding anniversary Oct. 16, 2013.

In addition to his wife, surviving are sons, Robert and his wife, Deborah Fontenova, Hasting-On-Hudson, N.Y.; Raymond and his wife, Laura Fontenova, Mountain Top; grandchildren, Geoffrey, Christopher Fontenova, Jennifer Nybro, Melisa Fontenova and Andrew Hallowell; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Ava and Henry.

He was preceded in death by sister, Eleanor Fontenova.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming. Those who desire may give memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
