Regina E. Lavan Dotzel, 85, of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at her home with her husband, Fred, by her side.

She was born in the Georgetown section of Wilkes-Barre Township on Oct. 21, 1928, a daughter of the late Charles and Maria Lyall Lavan.
Regina was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, and a life member of St. Joseph's Monastery, Georgetown, until its closing.
Regina was a loving wife and devoted mother of 10 children.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Dugan, and brothers, John Lavan Sr., Charles Lavan, Gerald Lavan and James Lavan.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Fred J. Dotzel Sr.; her children, Regina Zimmerman, Plains Township; Kathleen Knight and her husband, Tim, Fort Worth, Texas; Fred Dotzel Jr. and his wife, Joan, Bear Creek; Maureen Savner and her husband, Don, Mountain Top; Angela Naperkowski and her husband, Jerry, Wilkes-Barre Township; Margaret Dotzel and her husband, Eric, Chevy Chase, Md.; Bill Dotzel and his wife, Joan, Wilkes-Barre; Colleen Pomfret and her husband, Doug, Dallas; Michael Dotzel and his wife, Michelle, Wilkes-Barre Township; and Eric Dotzel and his wife, Becky, Bear Creek; 28 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, William Lavan Sr. and his wife, Madge, Wilkes-Barre; and Thomas Lavan Sr. and his wife, Marilyn, Wilkes-Barre Township; sister, Peggy Krutski, Wilkes-Barre Township; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Lavan, Anna Mae Lavan and Jane Lavan, Norma Dotzel, Terri Dotzel and Peggy Dotzel; brothers-in-law, Joseph Dotzel and Norbert Dotzel and his wife, Miriam; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
