Robert Charney of Pittston passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Celtic Hospice Inpatient Care Unit, Wilkes-Barre. He was the husband of Mary Loquasto Charney.

Born Oct. 13, 1934, in West Wyoming, he was a son of the late John Charney and Anna Mehal Charney.
Robert was a proud member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his daughters, Adele and husband, John Leonard, and Susan and husband, Jerry Grohowski; and granddaughter, Emily Leonard. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, and his sister, Theresa DeAngelo.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his brother, John Charney.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's name to Celtic Hospice and Home Health (Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre), 25 Church St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
Robert's family would also like to thank the nurses and staff of Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre for the kindness care and compassion they showed Bob.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.
Viewing hours will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services with military honors by the AMVETS Honor Guard of Dupont will be held on Thursday. Those who plan on attending the funeral should go directly to the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Joseph Marello Parish at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Interment services with military honors will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
