Robert Oravitz, 81, of Mountain Top passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at his residence.

Born in Courtdale, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary Drumetski Oravitz. He was educated in Courtdale schools and was a graduate of Luzerne High School, Class of 1949.
Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Baltimore during the Korean conflict.
He was employed by Acme Markets for 37 years and was last employed as a general contractor.
He was a member of American Legion Mountain Post 781, Mountain Top, and a member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church Mountain Top.
Surviving, in addition to his loving wife of 40 years, the former Ruth Zugarek, are a sister, Betty Dubinski, New Jersey; children, Frank and wife, Karen, Maine; Donna Petrosky, Pittston; Mary Beth Soroka and husband, James, Duryea; Robert (RJ) and wife, Kristi, Slocum; John Erickson and wife, Susan, Massachusetts; and Paul Erickson and wife, Tracey, Harrisburg; grandchildren, Sarah Goulet, Melissa Oravitz, Heather Talarico, John Petrosky, Drew, Matthew and Lauren Erickson, John, James, Julia and Jessica Soroka, Nathan, Daniel, Donovan, Bradyn and Kenzie Oravitz; great-grandchildren, Melissa and Haylie; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Monday from Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 436 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, Mountain Top.
Interment will be in Albert Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Building Fund.
