Robert W. Thomas, 84, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, in Celtic Hospice at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Leroy and Sophia Trudnak Thomas. Bob was a graduate of Meyers High School. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was formerly employed at the Atwater Throwing Company in Wilkes-Barre.

He was a member of Hanover Twp. American Legion Post No. 609. Bob was also an avid football fan, card player and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Thiemann Thomas, in 2007. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Merilinda Thomas and son-in-law, Carl Deininger and by his brothers, Leroy and Leonard Thomas and by his sisters, Martha Zarenski, Betty Dunay and Peggy Puchalski.

Surviving are his children, Barbara Deininger, Wilkes-Barre; Robert S. Thomas, Mountain Top; Paul J. Thomas and his wife, Susan, Wilkes-Barre; Ellen Redenski and her husband, Robert, Wilkes-Barre; and Lorraine Reimard, Dallas; grandchildren, Paul, Heather and Robert Deininger, Aubrey Pearson and her husband, Michael; Robert Thomas and his fiancé, Diana Bodzio; Danielle and Christopher Reimard; great-grandchildren, Shane Pearson and Adelyn Thomas; sister, Midge Domanski, numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
