Rose Marie "Miss Rose" Mazer passed away Monday, July 9, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Luzerne, on Aug. 12, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Marie Zaher.

Prior to her retirement, Rose had been employed by the Child Development Council and was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, West Nanticoke.

She was a graduate of Luzerne High School, Class of 1948, and Misericordia University, Class of 1952, having received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and French. Upon graduating college, Rose was hired as a Romanian linguist by the National Security Agency.

Rose loved all types of animals, from house pets to farm animals, and bowling, either in local leagues or on travel teams.

Her greatest love was her family and pre-school children.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allan Mazer.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Bernard; sons, Bernard J. and wife, Louie Chartier; Gary D.; Glen and companion, Trisha; grandchildren, Joel A. and Justin M. Mazer.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Calvary United Methodist Church, Poplar Street, West Nanticoke. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Arrangements are by Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, 4 W. Green St., Nanticoke.
