Ruie F. Powell, 87, of Quakertown, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre on Aug. 8, 1925, a daughter of the late Arthur and Esther Smith Boote.

Ruie was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School, Class of 1943.

She was formerly employed by Family Physicians Associates and by the Geisinger Family Practice in Wilkes-Barre. Prior to her retirement, she was also employed by the Luzerne County Bureau of the Aging.

Ruie was a member of St. Clement and St. Peter Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Powell, in 1997; and by an infant son, Frank (Ricky) Powell. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur (Bud) Boote, and a sister, Eleanor Campbell.

Surviving are children, Susan Mountz and her husband, Michael, Shillington; Judy Stinson and her husband, Gary, Quakertown; and Arthur Powell and his wife, Lisa, Palmyra; grandchildren, Kendra Seligman and her husband, Matthew, Adriann Kehl and her husband, Ryan, Amanda Gibson and her husband, Stephen, Alison Diehl and her husband, Kurt, Bradey and Zachary Powell; great-grandchildren, Elyse and Micah Seligman, Shane and Austin Kehl, Mason and Bryce Gibson, and Madison Diehl; brothers, Marvin Boote, Wilkes-Barre, and Fred Boote and his wife, Holly, Auburn; sister, Susan Smith and her husband, Russell, Vienna, Va.; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday from Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. John C. Major, pastor of St. Clement and St. Peter Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
