Ruth A. Davies, 67, of Ronks passed away unexpectedly at her home Tuesday, April 8, 2014.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre, and was the daughter of the late Lt. Col. William S. Davies and Saralouise Richards Davies.

She is survived by her brothers, the Rev. William S. (Bud) Davies Jr., husband of Sharon Davies, Lancaster; and Attorney Thomas R. Davies, husband of Charmanne Davies, Lancaster; her nieces and nephews, attorney Joseph Davies (Elizabeth), Raleigh, N.C.; Michael Davies, Euless, Texas; Evan Davies, Hollywood, Fla.; and Abby Davies, Lancaster; as well as her great-niece, Page Davies, Raleigh, N.C.

Having attended numerous schools around the country and in England due to her father's Air Force career, Ruth graduated from Bellevue Senior High School, Bellevue, Neb., and then from Mansfield University.

While she had numerous jobs in several fields throughout her life, including banking, travel and health care administration, the two constants in her life were her devotion to her faith and her family. She was a member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church of Gap, where she had served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and a leader of the women's Bible Study. Before moving to the Lancaster area, she had been a longtime member of First Welsh Presbyterian Church of Wilkes-Barre, where she had also served as an elder and Sunday school superintendent. The "job titles" she cherished most were daughter, sister and aunt.

Besides her lifelong Bible study, her other interests included genealogy, needle work, travel and watching sports on television. In the last few years she developed a passion for card-making, which she turned in to her own personal ministry by sending her hand-made cards to friends and church members who were ill, grieving or otherwise needed support and encouragement.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 810 Newport Ave., Gap, with her brother, the Rev. William S. Davies Jr., officiating.

There will be a time to greet family at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bellevue Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 810 Newport Ave., Gap, PA 17527.
