Ruth Chairge, 77, passed away peacefully Monday, July 9, 2018, at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, on July 21, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Osick and Ruth Thomson Osick.

She was a graduate of Pittston Twp. High School, Class of 1959. She was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish.

In her earlier years, she helped and supported the family businesses founded by her husband.

Ruth loved to travel with her husband and family. She especially enjoyed beach trips to Cape May, N.J., and shopping with her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be truly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Joseph N. Chairge Sr., on April 19, 2007; brothers, Joseph and Ronnie Osick; and her adopted parents, Marion and Julius Casavecchia (Household).

Surviving are her son, Joseph Chairge and his wife, Charlene, West Pittston; daughters, Diann Chairge, Illinois; and Christine Chesniak and her husband, Richard, Pittston Twp.; grandchildren, Abigail Glodzik, Amber Chesniak, Joseph Chairge, Matthew Chesniak and his wife, Brittnay, Bianca Chairge, Freddie Chairge, Richard Chesniak and Kevin Phillips; great-granddaughter, Isabella; sister, Barbara Jamiolkowski; sister-in-law, Maureen Osick Crackett; brothers-in-law, Patrick Chairge, Anthony Chairge and his wife, Patricia; and John Chairge; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gerald Gibbons for the many years of excellent care he provided to Ruth, as well as to the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart and to Ruth's caregiver, Maia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William St., Pittston. According to Ruth's wishes, there will be no viewing. The family will receive friends and relatives from 8:15 a.m. until the time of Mass in the church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
