Ruth M. Carey, 92, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, N.J.

Born in Plymouth on Dec. 14, 1919, Ruth was the daughter of the late William H. and Jennie Roberts Rowe.
Ruth worked as a sales clerk for the former Fowler, Dick & Walker Department Store, Wilkes-Barre.
She was a past president of the Plymouth Cambiran Club and a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary.
Ruth was a member of Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, and its United Methodist Women.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Harold C. Carey; sister, Dorothy Lake; brother, William Rowe; and sons-in-law, Fred Wolcott and Ed Mazur.
Surviving are daughters, Sarah Wolcott and Joyce Mazur, both of Toms River, N.J.; granddaughters, Elizabeth Piccola and husband, Rich, Toms River, N.J.; Joyce Storch and husband, Eric, Dale, Texas; Jennifer Brennan and husband, Peter, Manchester, N.J.; and Lynn Mazur, Toms River, N.J.; and great-grandchildren, Amber, Ashley and Austin Storch, Dale, Texas; Matthew and Megan Brennan, Manchester, N.J.; Allison and Emily Piccola, Toms River, N.J.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday from Harold C. Snowdon Home for Funerals Inc., 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, PA 18704. The Rev. Barbara Lynn Pease, pastor of Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Firwood United Methodist Church, 399 Old River Road, Wilkes-Barre.
