Sandra M. Casey of Ashley died Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, 2013, at Commonwealth Hospice of the VNA, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Mountain Top, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Evelyn Carey Coleman and was a graduate of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception School and Fairview High School, Class of 1956.

Prior to retirement, Sandy was employed by RCA Semi Conductor as a technician and by Social Security and was a member of St. Leo's Church, Ashley.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph A. Casey Sr.. on Dec. 3, 2000; by her son, Joseph, on Oct. 1, 2011; and infant son, John.

Mrs. Casey is survived by her sons, Lawrence and his wife, Donna, Ashley; Brian and his wife, Lisa, Ashley; and Keith and his wife, Christine, Newtown section of Hanover Township; daughters, Kimberly Berrettini and her husband, Don, Harveys Lake; and Alison Casey and her husband, David Durko, Ashley; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Kasarda and Paula Elgonitis, Wilkes-Barre; many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday from Lehman Family Funeral Service Inc., 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Parish, 33 Manhattan St., Ashley. The Rev. Thomas J. O'Malley will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends and family are invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, or from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Monday.

Thank you Geisinger ED and fourth floor nurses, doctors and staff for their caring of mom, and the VNA staff for their caring, compassion and support with mom's stay.
