Shirley A. Norwillo, 79, of Plains Township passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in Golden Living Summit, Wilkes-Barre, under the care of Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

She was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Wilkes-Barre. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Haslin and Mary Figel Haslin, and sister of the late George Haslin. She was the widow of Master Sgt. William J. Norwillo, U.S. Air Force, retired.

Shirley was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School. She enjoyed cooking for her family and gardening. She was a longtime member of St. Maria Goretti's Catholic Church, Laflin.

She is survived by her daughter, Noel, who cared for her during her illness; and Dave Gagliardi. Also surviving are her daughter, MariJo (John) Tedesco, Washington, W.Va.; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Norwillo, Kingston; her grandchildren, Amanda Gomen (Mike), Nanticoke; Daniel Tedesco, Washington, W.Va.; Michael Norwillo, Scranton; Natalie Tedesco, Elkton, Md.; and also by her sister-in-law, Josephine Haslin, and her son, George Haslin Jr.

Her family would also like to thank Dr. Alley, Carol, and Dr. Sheere, who provided wonderful care to Shirley.

Lastly, Shirley is survived by her faithful dog, Kita, who will miss her terribly.

Family and friends may attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial service at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Laflin, with Monsignor Neil Van Loon as celebrant. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m.

Her burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., next to her husband, William.

Her family asks that flowers be omitted, and to make a donation to the , 101 W. Frack St., Frackville, PA 17931, in Shirley's memory.
