Sophia T. Koscheka, 93, of Nanticoke, passed away early Saturday morning, January 19, 2013 at her home following a brief illness.

Born on October 19, 1919 in Nanticoke she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Martha Wolski Koscheka. She graduated from Nanticoke High school, class of 1937 and received her nursing training at Coit Baby Hospital in Newark, NJ.
Early in life Sophia was employed as a private duty baby nurse in Northern New Jersey.
She was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Nanticoke until its closing, later belonging to St. Joseph's Slovak Catholic Church and following the consolidation St. Faustina Kowalska Parish.
Sophia was employed in the local garment industry for many years and much of her adult life was devoted to the care of her parents. She also provided health services to her mother, her brother, Felix and his wife Helen, and her brother Anthony as well as many other people in the community.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Felix, Frank and Anthony Koscheka and a sister, Eleanor Koscheka.
Surviving is her sister, Florence Bowidowicz as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 East Broad Street, Nanticoke with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Faustina Kowalska Parish / Holy Trinity Church, 520 South Hanover Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. James Nash as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Nanticoke. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 – 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
