Stasia Czapracki Obituary
Stasia M. Czapracki, 97, formerly of Glen Lyon and Nanticoke passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke.
Born September 25, 1919 in Glen Lyon she was a daughter of the late Michael and Apolonia Barbarewicz Olshefski. She attended the Newport Township public schools and worked in the garment industry 44 years, retiring in 1981. She worked at Glen Lyon Garments, Terry Sportswear, Ann Will Garment, Amil Manufacturing, United Pants and Gent J. Stasia, who was very skilled in the art of sewing, was also an instructor, having taught numerous individuals how to sew at the former Roosevelt School in Wanamie. She also assisted her late brother, Chester Olshefski, from Chet's Upholstery, in many phases of the upholstery business.
Stasia resided at Oplinger Towers, Nanticoke for twenty-five years and was active in Oplinger Towers Council and served as past treasurer. While at Oplinger, she had a passion for ensuring the laundry room was always tidy. In addition, because of her sewing skills, she was called upon by many individuals to do clothing alterations. She could never say no to anyone. She also loved working crossword puzzles, cooking and baking. Most of all, Stasia loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Czapracki; brothers, Frank, Michael, Anthony, Chester, Walter, Leo and Raymond; and sisters, Celia Gregga, Stephanie Strzalka and Helen Olshefski.
Surviving are a son, Stanley Czapracki and his wife, Sandra, Nanticoke; grandchildren, Allison, Kevin, Paul, Kenneth, David and Brian; great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Pauline Macosky, Glen Lyon as well as nieces and nephews.
A special thank you goes out to the staff at Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, especially "Jeannie", for all the great care that Stasia received while at their facility.
Honoring Stasia's wishes, following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held on April 24, 2017, a Monday, at 10 a.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, alternate site, St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, 1030 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke with The Rev. James R. Nash as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Glen Lyon.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 24th from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at the church.
