Stella L. Tuinylas, 97, of Pittston passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Allied Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton.

Born May 3, 1916, in Jersey City, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Alice Kukla Kobesky.
Stella was a member of the former St. Casimir's Parish in Pittston and its Altar and Rosary Society, and recently a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish Community, Pittston. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the local garment industry.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, in 1972; brothers, Edward and Anthony Kobesky; sisters, Dorothy Choinski and Florence Lawyer; and grandson, Paul Dorunda.
Stella is survived by her daughter, Barbara Dorunda, Taylor; son, Carl Tuinylas, Clarks Summit; grandson, Dr. John Dorunda, Connecticut; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Madison and Johnathan Dorunda; brother, Thomas Kobeski, Moosic; sister, Tessie Ross, College Park, Md.; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the Kizis-Lokuta Funeral Home, 134 Church St., Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, William Street, Pittston. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Pittston. Family and friends may call at the funeral home the morning of the funeral from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Care and Concern Health Clinic of St. John the Evangelist Parish Community, William Street, Pittston, PA 18640.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Allied Skilled Nursing Center for the concern they showed in their care for Stella.
