Stephen M. Skovira, 83, of Larksville passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Celtic HealthCare, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

He was born in Dravce, Slovakia, on Feb. 11, 1930. He was the son of the late Steve and Mary Basista Skovira.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean conflict with the 3rd Marine Division, from July 1952 to April 1955, attaining the rank of sergeant.
He was employed by the H.A. Smith Co., Wilkes-Barre, and was a member of the International Painters and Allied Trades Union, Local 41.
He was a member of All Saints Parish, Plymouth, and a member of its Friendship Club of St. Mary's.
He enjoyed spending time with his loving family, but most especially with his wonderful grandchildren. He was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles and Flyers fan.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard; daughter-in-law, Anne; sister, Maria; and brother, John.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Helen Roditus, at home; sons, Stephen G. Skovira, Shavertown; and Michael Skovira and his wife, Jill, Chester Springs; seven grandchildren, Ryan, R.J., Lauren, Amy, Trinity, Ryleigh and Kaylie; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Military funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in All Saints Parish, Willow Street, Plymouth.
Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Lehman Township.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday.
