Sylvester Dugan, 90, formerly of Mountain Top, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Bradenton, Fla.

Sylvester was born Jan. 26, 1928 to Jacob and Mary Dugan in Hanover Twp. He served in the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Penn State University. Sy worked at RCA in Mountain Top for 30 years, retiring from General Electric in 1989. He was a member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral in Wilkes-Barre. Sy served as the president of the Blytheburn Association and was an active member of Mountain Top American Legion Post 781.

In addition to his parents, Sylvester was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Florence, in 2007. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Sophia Holtz, Thomas Dugan, Jule Kelly, Nicholas Dugan, Russell Dugan and Irene Husted.

Sylvester is survived by his children, Marcia Pelick and her husband, John, Lakewood Ranch, Fla.; Maureen McCollom and her husband, Dan, Wilmington, Del.; Gregory Dugan and his wife, Debby, Florida; and Deborah Wargo and her husband, Dave, Pittsburgh. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Nicholas Artemik and his wife, Susan; Jeremy Artemik, Andrew Dugan, Leslie Shreve, Amanda McCollom, Sam McCollom, Jacob Wargo, Natalia Wargo and Liam Wargo and great-grandson, Aiden Artemik.

Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Twp., with Requiem Services at 10 a.m. in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral, 591 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Parastas will be held at 5:30 p.m. with Very Rev. Timothy Cremeens officiating.
