Thelma Mellas, 90, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Berwick Retirement Village.

Born in Detroit, Mich., on June 4, 1922, Thelma was the daughter of the late William and Mildred Smith Ponton.
She resided in Mountain Top most of her life, several years in Tucson, Ariz., and later in the Hazleton area, where she was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Edmund, in 1985; and brothers, William, Jack and Joseph.
Surviving are her sons, Edmund and wife, Fran, Lakeland, Fla.; William and wife, Jerri, Herriman, Utah; and Gerald and wife, Deborah, Dorrance Township; and her brother, James, Detroit, Mich.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private viewing will be held for the immediate family at McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top, followed by a private interment in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton.
