William C. Burniski, 92, of Syracuse, N.Y., passed away Friday.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre and came to Syracuse, N.Y., in 1951. Bill played semi-pro baseball for the Wilkes-Barre Barons. He was an Army MP veteran from World War II. He retired in 1982 from General Electric Co. as a radar technician.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Genevieve Mayeski; daughter Carol (Paul) Norris; son, William (Debra) Burniski; sister, Anna Burniski; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers John Burns, Florida, and Edward M. Burniski, Wilkes-Barre; and sister Marie Koprowski, Wilkes-Barre.
Services were held Wednesday at Gang Memorial Chapel, Syracuse. Burial with military honors took place in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
