William F. Leo of Wilkes-Barre passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at the Mercy Center Nursing Unit, Dallas. He was the husband of the late Veronica Ungvarsky Leo.

Born Dec. 6, 1929, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late August and Elisabeth Finarelli Leo. He was a graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1947.

He was employed by Superior Combustion as a boilermaker and blacksmith for the Local 13 Union.

He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy.

He belonged to Sacred Heart Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Willie enjoyed playing cards and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. His children and grandchildren were the center of his life.

Surviving are his sons, William and wife, Laura Leo, New Tripoli; and Robert Leo, Mountain Top; daughter, Marilyn Leo, Plains Township; brother, Vincent Leo; sister, Mary S. Graziano; grandson, Michael Leo, Denver, Colo.; granddaughters, Emily Leo, Mountain Top; Melanie Leo, Mountain Top; Jillian Leo and fiance, Joseph San Philip, Bayonne, N.J.; and Patricia and husband, Ty Shreve, Washington Township; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Shreve and John Shreve.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents and wife, by a brother, Joseph Leo.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Therese Residence, Wilkes-Barre, Mercy Center, Dallas, and Hospice of The Sacred Heart for their compassionate care and support.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.

Viewing hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Maria Goretti Parish, Laflin, at 10 a.m. Monday.

Interment services will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover.

The St. Maria Goretti Bereavement Group will recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the rosary in the church at 9:30 a.m. Monday prior to the funeral Mass.
