William E. (Bill) Kivler of Briar Creek Road, Plains Township, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, after a battle with a longtime illness.

He was the son of the late Jake and Katherine Kivler.

Bill was a graduate of Nanticoke Area High School.

William had careers in management of Armstrong Flooring and maintenance at Golden Living Assistance Home, Plains Township.

He was a member of Parsons Primitive Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by wife, Joan, and brother, Carl Kivler.

He is survived by his son, William D. and his wife, Barbara, Plains Township; daughter, Joyce Thompson and her husband, Jon, and three grandchildren, Jon and Jeannine, and Jillian, Willow Grove; sisters; RoseAnn Chamberlain, Alden; and Mildred Elick and her husband, Leonard, Lansdale; godchild, Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Township. The Rev. Andy Jerome, pastor of Parsons Primitive Methodist Church, will officiate services scheduled for 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Luzerne County SPCA in Bill's memory.
