Walter A. (Whoopsie) Borum, 77, of Laurel Run Estates passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012.
Born in Wilkes-Barre Township, he was the son of the late William and Jennie Lovendusky Borum. He attended Wilkes-Barre Township High School.
Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from General Motors of Linden, N.J., after 30 years of service.
He was a member of American Legion Post 815, Wilkes-Barre Township, and was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Wilkes-Barre Republican Club.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Walter Borum; brothers, Michael, David, Bernard and Joseph Borum; sister, Beatrice McCarter.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 51 years, the former, Diana Lange, are his daughters, Susan Evans and her husband, Joseph, Wilkes-Barre Township; Sandra Sattof and her husband, David, Mountain Top; and Sherry Youkoski and her husband, James, Wilkes-Barre Township; son, William Borum and his wife, Jodi, Wilkes-Barre Township; grandchildren, Joshua, Kayla, Amanda, Sam, Sarah, Stephen, Alex and Jonathan; brothers, Daniel Borum and his wife, Mary, and Richard Borum; sisters, Josephine Kornacki and Anna Mae Coveleski and her husband, Ronald; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday from Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Parish, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. John S. Terry, pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
Family and friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
