Marie Louise Shisko, 87, a life resident of Ashley, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 13, 2013, at Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke.

Her beloved husband was the late Michael S. Shisko, who passed away April 10, 1979.
Born May 8, 1925, in Ashley, Marie was the daughter of the late Andrew and Cecilia Drapiewski Magda.
Marie was a graduate of the former Ashley High School, Class of 1943.
Prior to her retirement, Marie was employed for many years by the local garment industry and was a life member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers Union.
Marie was a devout member of St, Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she served as past secretary and treasurer of the church council for many years. Additionally, Marie was instrumental in helping with the church's annual bazaar, many dinners and other church functions.
Active within her community, Marie served as a Democratic committeewoman for Ashley Borough.
A woman of many enjoyments, Marie especially enjoyed cooking, baking and crafting. She was also a talented seamstress, crocheter and knitter. Many were the recipients of her talents.
Marie had a love of traveling and was able to make several trips to Russia and various places throughout the United States.
In addition to her parents, Andrew and Cecilia Magda, and her husband, Michael, Marie was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Magda, who resided in Quakertown.
Marie is survived by her sons, Michael Shisko and his wife, Mary Jo, Harveys Lake; and Andrew Shisko, Ashley; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Marie's Funeral Liturgy, which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 58 Seneca St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Very Rev. Michael Lepa officiating.
Those attending the funeral service are kindly asked to assemble directly at the church on Thursday morning, as there will be no procession from the funeral home to the church.
Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Joseph L. Wroblewski Funeral Home, 56 Ashley St., Ashley, where Parastas Services will be celebrated at 7 p.m., with the Very Rev. Michael Lepa, officiating.
There will be an additional viewing from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 58 Seneca St., Wilkes-Barre.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marie's memory to St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 58 Seneca St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
