Daniel R. Engle of Olyphant died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in Geisinger Community Medical Center.

His wife is the former Janet Smith.

Born in Wilkes Barre, son of the late Clayton and Charlotte Welch Engle, he was a life resident of the area.

He attended Coughlin High School.

Prior to retirement, he was an over-the-road truck driver with Road Scholar Transportation Co.

He was of the Protestant faith, a member of Teamsters 229 and the Tauras Club.

Dan was a great storyteller and loved playing the lottery.

He was an old movie buff, particularly the black and white ones, enjoyed camping and especially loved his grandchildren.

Surviving are five sons, Chad Engle, Daniel Engle, Thomas Linko, Timmothy Linko and Joseph Rivas; three daughters, Christine Sokoloski, Robin Bethel and Jennifer Pisanchyn; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Engle and Abe Engle; three sisters, Lotti Schultz, Lill Engle and Georgette Wolfe; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Butch and George, and three sisters, Elizabeth, Dolores and Fay.

Daniel was loved by many and will be missed deeply.

The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the care of Bomberger-Lesko Funeral Home Inc. 1660 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
