Louise S. Govin, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at her home in Trucksville.

Born Oct. 18, 1923, in Wilkes-Barre, Louise was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mildred S. Stegmaier.
After graduating from St. Ann's Academy and Weylister College, Milford, Conn., Louise was employed by the American Red Cross, Wilkes-Barre. Later in life, she was employed by the Sunday Independent as the social editor.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Ralph Govin; sisters, Jane Dewees and Sally Turner; brother, Fred Stegmaier; nephews, Charles and Fred Dewees.
Surviving are her children, Christopher and Jeffrey Govin, both of Kingston; Lisa Govin, Austin, Texas; sister, Ann Stegmaier, Honolulu, Hawaii; nieces, Helen Ann Vasconcellos, Honolulu, Hawaii; Missy Enaboe, Trucksville; Betsy Naurat, Worcester, England; many other family and friends; her faithful dog, Boomer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Therese's Church, Pioneer Avenue and Davis Street, Shavertown. A private interment will be in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville.
The Govin family would like to thank Judy Leoffler of Hospice of Sacred Heart, Stephanie and Terry of Angels Touch Homecare, caregivers, Hazel and Linda, and all of mom's friends and neighbors who helped during her time of need.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Luzerne County SPCA, 524 E. Main St., Fox Hill Road, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702. Arrangements are entrusted to Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
