Longtime Pennsylvania resident Hedwig Kretchik passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the home of her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Ronald Pisano.

Born Feb. 5, 1921, to Bertha and Walter Lubereski of Pringle, Hedwig was known for her kind nature and her devotion to her husband and children.

She married Simon Kretchik in 1941 and had her first child, Patricia, followed by her son, Thomas. Hedwig valued the importance of close friends, raising her children and supporting her husband in his business ventures, which included Pride Health Care. She was married to Simon for 65 years and was by his side until his passing in 2008. She played an active role in the lives of her chidlren and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Simon, and her grandson, Thomas Pisano.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia, and son-in-law, Ronald Pisano; son, Thomas, and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Kretchik; grandchildren, Christine Copeman, Jeffrey Pisano, Bonnie and Simon Kretchik and Felicia Byrn; and great-grandchildren, Jolisa and Juliana Copeman and Lee Thomas Kretchik.

The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their steadfast care during her final days, especially nurse Donna, as well as Dr. James Bruno and his assistant, Anita, and Deacon Patrick Massino.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
