Elaine Alice Golaszewski, 61, resident of Wilkes-Barre, was welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, in Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

She was born June 5, 1952, in Ashland, to the late Frank and Olga Zarutskie. She was a 1970 graduate of North Schuylkill High School and she married her husband, Daniel Luke Golaszewski, on Sept. 20, 1975. Elaine graduated from Bloomsburg University in 1975 and 1976, respectively, with her Bachelor of Scicene and Master of Science degrees in speech and language pathology.

During her college years, she served as the vice president of the Student Speech and Hearing Association, worked with the Easter Seals Society in Selinsgrove, and supervised student teachers from Bloomsburg University. As a graduate student, she received a fellowship to train at the Behavioral Science Institute in Monterrey, Calif. Throughout her successful and fulfilling career as a speech and language pathologist, she was employed through the Wilkes-Barre and Wyoming Valley West school districts, Luzerne Intermediate Unit 18, and Ebenezer Faith Christian School.

Elaine was an extraordinary woman of God who served at First Assembly of God, Wilkes-Barre, as a worship pastor and childrens and adults Sunday school teacher for 12 years. In 2008, she joined the Grammy Award-winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir in Brooklyn, N.Y., where her voice can be heard on three albums. Elaine also led the alto section as a choir captain.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her in-laws, Walter and Sophie Golaszewski of Wilkes-Barre.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Daniel; her three sons, Dr. Daniel Golaszewski Jr., D.C., and his wife, Maria, Wilkes-Barre; Nathan and his wife, Melody, Wilkes-Barre; and David and his wife, Jillian, Kingston; grandson, Nathan Jr.; brother, Dr. Frank Zarutskie, D.D.S., and his wife, Joan, Frackville; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with services at 10 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church, 424 Stanton St., Wilkes-Barre. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Jason Gornicz.

Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Family members and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
