Mary Lou Coulter, formerly of Edwardsville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre. She was 82 years old.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Kingston. The family will receive friends and relatives in the church from 9 to 9:30 a.m. The Committal will take place in the church following the Mass. All attending are invited to a reception, which will take place after the Committal; details will be announced at the service.
Mary Lou was born in Scranton on June 12, 1931. She graduated from Kingston High School and the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
She worked as a registered nurse at the Nesbitt Memorial Hospital and in a private doctor's office for more than 40 years, retiring in 1996.
A very active member of the Red Hat Society for many years, she was also an active member of the church choirs at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Swoyersville, and at St. Ignatius throughout her adult life.
Mary Lou was married to James Paul Moran from Aug. 23, 1952, until his death on June 16, 1970, and also to James W. Coulter from June 4, 1976, until his death on Nov. 29, 2005, both veterans of World War II.
She is survived by her brother, Edward W. Parsons Jr., Idaho; two sons, Patrick J. Moran, Annapolis, Md.; and James P. Moran, Pittsburgh; a close stepdaughter, Maureen Gallagher, Luzerne; stepdaughters, Rosemary Burniski, and Ellen Coulter, Boston, Mass.; stepson, Michael Coulter, Swoyersville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a close nephew, Edward W. Parsons III, Houston, Texas; a close friend, Harry; as well as other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 339 N. Maple Ave., Kingston, PA 18704. Donations will support the music program at St. Ignatius.
