Daniel W. Sluzele, 70, of East State Street, Nanticoke, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born July 24, 1943, in Kingston, he was the son of the late Walter and Helen Vitcusky Sluzele. He was a graduate of West Side Catholic High School and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre.
He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
Danny was employed for many years by Native Textiles, Dallas, and then by TP Corp. and, prior to his retirement, by The Salvation Army.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Catherine Harchar, and brother, Vincent.
Surviving are his wife, the former Rita Hilenski Polascik Sluzele; daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Jennifer) Luksa; granddaughter, Katy Luksa; stepsons, Christopher and Albert Polascik; stepdaughter, Mrs. Robert (Cheryl) Shaffer; stepgrandson, Robert Ryan Shaffer; and sister, Joan Gruss.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home Inc., 614 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke.
Military funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church, South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Robert Zanicky officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
