Eleanor S. Piazza, formerly of Shavertown, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 23, 1934, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Con and Mary Papa Bartorillo. She was educated in Luzerne public schools.
Eleanor took great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was employed as a receptionist by The Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas, for more than 20 years and was an active member of Outlet Free Methodist Church, Dallas.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Joseph M. Piazza, on Jan. 20, 2004; and three brothers, Angelo, John and George Bartorillo.
Surviving are a son, Ross Piazza and wife, Susan, Shavertown; daughter, Mary Jo Hodgins and husband, Jerry, Spring Bluff, Ill.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. The Rev. Matt Riley, pastor of Outlet Free Methodist Church, Dallas, will officiate.
Interment will be made in the Italian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The Piazza family extends a special thank you to the Meadows Manor, the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to Dr. Lanning Anselmi for the wonderful care provided to Eleanor.
