George T. Stoddard, 49, of Laflin passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at his home.

He was born in Pottsville on Jan. 21, 1965, a son of the late Richard R. and Clare Hennessy Stoddard. George was a graduate of Minersville High School and always carried Schuylkill County in his heart. He was employed in the food service industry.
George was an active member of St. Maria Goretti Church, where he served as a lector. He was also a soccer coach for the Bear Creek Bobcats.
George was a life Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and enjoyed watching games with his large group of friends and family. He was the glue that held "the Boulevard" together and it will never be the same without him.
George is survived by his wife of 12 years, Susan I. Engel Stoddard; daughters: Alexa Kalafut and Giana Taylor Stoddard, at home; brother, Richard Stoddard, Watson, Ill.; sisters: Cathy Stoddard Mortensen, Deer Lake; Mary Jo Halye, Jonestown; Ellen Sholly, Indian Head, Md.; Jayne Evans, Macedon, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
George's family and friends are heartbroken. His daughter, Gia said "Dad, you were the best man who ever lived."
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin. Interment will be private in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Dallas.
Friends may call at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass in St. Maria Goretti Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship fund to benefit his daughters, c/o 26 Fairfield Drive, Laflin, PA 18702.
