Doris M. Evans, 84, formerly of Forty Fort and Kingston, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at St. Luke's Villa, Wilkes-Barre Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of Harry and Elsie Lengle Sands. She was one of six daughters, the only surviving sister is Rayell Willard, Robesonia.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Master Sgt. Richard D. Evans, U.S. Army, on Aug. 31, 2012. The wife of a military man, she lived in many different places, national and international. She was a stay-at-home mother, taking care of the family while her husband had many overseas tours.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Elaine J. Williams, husband Patrick Hennessey, Naples, Fla.; and Susan A. Bevan, husband William, Centermoreland; son, Richard D. Evans, wife Mindy, Lehman Township; grandchildren, Keri, Jason, William, Marc, Eric, Emma, Ian and Jake; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Commonwealth Home Health and Hospice for the excellent care they provided for our mother.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Rev. Carol Coleman officiating.
Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
