Theodore A. (Ted) Lada, 87, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at the Golden Living Center, Plains Township.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Anthony and Josephine Necikowski Lada.
Ted enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and was a proud veteran of World War II, serving aboard the USS Starr.
Following his enlistment, Ted married the former Marie A. Greener and the couple relocated to southwest Philadelphia, where he worked various jobs in the construction industry before joining the Carpenters Union Local 845.
Ted was a former member of the Catholic War Veterans in the Philadelphia area.
After retirement, Ted and his wife purchased a 5-acre farm in Starucca. While still living in Philadelphia, Ted would travel to the farm on weekends and as an accomplished carpenter made much needed restorations to the farmhouse. In the 1990s with the decline of his wife's health, the couple moved back to Wilkes-Barre.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, Marie A. Lada; brother, Thomas; and sister, Eleanor.
Surviving are his son, Theodore J. Lada, Philadelphia; daughters, Donna Marshman; and Kathleen Stefankiewicz and husband, Joseph, Drexel Hill; seven grandchildren; and sister, Florence Fiorentino, Somers Point, N.J.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. The Rev. Mr. Thomas M. Cesarini will officiate.
Interment will be made in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
