Alda M. Adams, 88, of Kingston passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at Celtic Healthcare Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Alda was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Florence Price Smeaton. She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1943.
During World War II, Alda was employed by the former Pomeroy's on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre while her boyfriend/husband-to-be, Robert M. Adams, served with the 17th Airborne Paratrooper Division in the European Theater.
After the war, she and Robert were married and together they raised their family who meant everything to her.
Alda loved to dance, especially at the American Legion in Wilkes-Barre.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband of 45 years, Robert M. Adams, in 1992; and her sister, Beverly Trethaway.
Surviving are a son, Barry Adams, Edwardsville; daughter, Lynn Martin and husband, Bill, Kingston; grandsons, Billy and Bobby Martin; great-grandson, Brody Martin; niece, Karen Trethaway, all of Kingston.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. from the Harold C. Snowdon Home for Funerals Inc., 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston. The Rev. Joseph P. Rafferty, chaplain of Celtic Hospice, will officiate. Interment will be made in Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
