Albert E. Cheskiewitz, 61, of Orange passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at his home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Mary Smith Ellsworth and the late Albert Cheskiewitz.

Al was a graduate of West Side Area Vocational-Technical School having also attended Dallas High School. He was a lifelong resident of Franklin Township.

Al married the former Katherine Banta with whom he recently celebrated their 42nd anniversary in February. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Al worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his father was a daughter, Charlotte Cheskiewitz, as well as his loving grandparents James and Sarah Smith who cared for him, and with whom he resided as a child.

Surviving in addition to his Mother are his wife, Katherine; daughters, Angie Mallarkey and her husband Dave, Dallas; Nichole Shotwell and her husband Steve, Kingston Twp.; son Albert "Buddy" Cheskiewitz and his wife Karen, Shavertown; grandchildren David and Camryn Mallarkey, Brooke and Ashley Shotwell, Griffin Stone and Travis Cheskiewitz; Joseph Smith, whom he treated as a son, Larksville; Sisters, Jane Cavill, Dallas; Cathy Whitman, Nanticoke; Carol Riley, White Haven; Tammy Zimmerman, Dallas; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19 at Snowdon Funeral Home, Inc., 140 N. Main Street, Shavertown, PA 18708. The Rev. Don Hartshorne, pastor of Welsh Bethel Baptist Church, will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday, from 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart and Matt Van Fleet for the loving care they provided to Al.
