Mary L. Fonzo, 85, of Fremont Street, West Pittston, and formerly of Exeter, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was the daughter of the late James and Angeline Recine Fonzo.
She was a member of St. Barbara's Church (St. Anthony's Church), Exeter.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Gerald (B.J.) and John Fonzo.
Surviving are her sister, Johanna Turner and her husband, Richard, Exeter: brother, Anthony (Tony) Fonzo and his wife, Albina, Port Griffith; 13 nephews and nieces, several great-nieces and great-nephews and one great-great-niece.
Mary loved playing bingo, pokeno and watching the polkas. Mary enjoyed sitting in the community room or outside on the bench of the Garden Village Apartments with her best friend, Sandy Kovaleski. Mary lived her life for her family to which she loved. She loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Anthony Recupero Funeral Home, 406 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with the Rev. Michael Finn officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Manganiello and the nurses from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for the special care they gave Mary. We would also like to thank the nursing staff from Allied Services and the Recupero family for their support.
