Joseph H. Chukinas, 84, of Mountain Top passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014.

Born in Pringle on Dec. 12, 1929, he was the son of the late George and Jenny Tomashura Chukinas. He was educated in Pringle schools and was a graduate of Pringle High School, Class of 1949.
He was employed in the financial service industry for more than 30 years.
He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard.
He was a member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, Mountain Top, was a life member and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, Mountain Top Council 6440, and a fourth-degree member of Bishop Hafey Assembly 925, Wilkes-Barre.
Joe was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, the former Rita Bowman Chukinas; a brother, Stephen; and sisters, Wilma Orischak and Gertrude Chukinas.
Surviving are his brothers, George, Pringle; and Edward and his wife, Joan, Plains Township; a sister, Helen Hruska, New Jersey; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 436 S. Mountain Blvd., state Route 309, Mountain Top, with a blessing service at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Lehman.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
