Nettie (Anastasia) Yaremko died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Tiffany Court, Kingston, where she had been a resident for the past eight months.

Nettie, aged 95, was born Nov. 28, 1918, to Ephrosinia (Glowatch) and John Yaremko. A life resident of Wilkes-Barre, she graduated from James Coughlin High School in 1937.

Nettie worked as a window display decorator for the McCory variety store. She was recognized for her design creativity on several occasions, capturing first prize in the 1948 National Notion Fair Display Contest among other commendations.

She was a faithful and active member of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral, Wilkes-Barre.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Walter (Basil); her sisters, Mary Savulich and Helen Thompson; and a nephew, David Penico.

Nettie is survived by her sisters, Anna Yaremko, Kingston; Ephrosinia Robeck, San Antonio, Texas; and Eva Penico, Rolla, Mo. She was an incredible aunt of one niece and seven nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, 136 Maffett St., Plains Township, followed by Requiem services in Holy Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral, 591 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with Archpriest Joseph Martin officiating.

Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Plains Township.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
