Elizabeth N. Verdone, of Kingston passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia, June 29, 1923, she was the eldest daughter of the late C. Ellis and Anna Mera Meleizen. Elizabeth and her parents resided in Lancaster before moving to Reading where she lived most of her life before coming to Kingston in 2002.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Irvine Verdone; and her sister, Dorothy Rothermel.

Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Helen Reagan, West Reading; daughters, Susan Verdone, Kingston; and Barbara Von Hoff and her husband, Tom, Macungie; granddaughter, Susan Arbogast and her husband, Karl, Plains Township; three grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the following for their loving care of her in recent months: Dr. William Hottenstein and staff, Erwine Home Health Care, John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation, Kingston Health Care Center, Father John Polednak, Deacon John O'Connor and Father Alex Roche of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, the Critical Care Unit of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and our dearest friends for their prayers and support.

A private funeral for the family will be held Wednesday from Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 339 N. Maple Ave., Kingston. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ignatius of Loyola Church and its ministries.
