Arthur Cagigas, 80, of Berwick, formerly of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Berwick Retirement Village.

Arthur was born Dec. 12, 1933, in Nanticoke, where he graduated from Nanticoke High School.

Prior to retirement, he owned and operated his own business, "Mr. Brakes," in Plymouth Township.

He was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Wyoming Valley Association Hall of Fame. He was a fan of bluegrass music and amassed a great collection of country and bluegrass records over the years. He had a special interest in Martin guitars and developed a talent for repairing and refurbishing the guitars he bought and sold. Another hobby Arthur pursued most recently was collecting DVDs of classic and contemporary movies and vintage television series.

Arthur spoke fondly of the family pets, George, Sam, Sambo, Heidi, Bengi, Shadow and Sweet Pea.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Geraldine; and a daughter, Rodean.

Arthur is survived by his son, Keith and wife, Paula, Berwick; daughters, Evelyn Petrosky and her husband, John, West Pittston; and Anna Lamoreux and her husband, Willy, Hanover Township; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe; and a sister, Rose. He will be missed by his cherished companion, his dog, Pug.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kanouse and the staff at Berwick Hopsital and Berwick Retirement Village for the excellent care he received over the past few months.

The funeral will be held at noon Saturday from Lehman-Gregory Funeral Home Inc., 281 Chapel St,. Swoyersville, with the Rev. Robert Thomas officiating.

Interment will be held in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
