Floyd S. Young Sr., 88, of Kingston passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Celtic Hospice at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Asher and Elsie King Young and was a graduate of Kingston High School.
He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Edwardsville, and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He was a lifetime member of the Columbian Volunteer Fire Company, an honorary member of the Independent Volunteer Fire Company, both in Kingston, and a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Union.
All around the Wyoming Valley there is evidence of his great talent and his love of masonry. He also loved sitting on his porch with his dog, Molly. His many kindness and willingness to help in any situation will always be remembered by his loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former June Lynn Weitz; infant son, Dwight David; brothers, Carl and Asher Young; and his sister, Minerva German.
He is survived by his son, Floyd S. Young Jr. and his wife, Michelle, Kingston; grandsons, Joshua and David Young, both of Kingston; sister, Doris Klina, Prospect Park; sister-in-law, Verna Weiskerger, Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Howell-Lussi Funeral Home, 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James Quinn officiating from Immanuel Baptist Church.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Dallas.
Friends may call the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
