John R. Gill, 77, of Pittston passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was the husband of Angela Turoni Gill.

Born Nov. 12, 1936, in Dupont, he was a son of the late John W. Gill and Catherine Chmura Gill.

John graduated from Avoca High School. After finishing high school in 1954 he enlisted into the U.S. Navy, where he served four years. He then went on to attend Penn State University and earned a degree in engineering.

John began his career at Babcock & Wilcox. He then continued on to Pocono Drafting and his final employer was Owens- Illinois, where he retired from.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were his brothers, Richard, Joseph and Michael Gill.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his daughter, Mary Kay and husband, Michael Conway; grandchildren, Caitlin, Shane and Nicole Conway and Ed Risley; and great-grandchildren, Mia and Sophia Risley. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks to all the doctors and nurses who cared for John.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.

A viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Those who plan on attending should be at the funeral home no later than 12:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Joseph Marello Parish, William Street, Pittston, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Interment services will take place in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston.
