Carmella Giordano Scarantino passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Wesley Village surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Scarantino.

Born Nov. 18, 1917, in Pittston she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Assunta Giambra Giordano.

She attended Pittston High School and worked as a seamstress in the local garment industry.

She was a member of St. Rocco's Roman Catholic Church, Pittston, and belonged to the Christian Mothers.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her.

Carmella's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Wesley Village, who took such great care of her and showed her so much love and kindness.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Drahus; sisters, Mary LaMarca, Lena Medico and Assunta (Sally) Anzalone; and brothers, Sam and Louis Giordano.

Surviving are her son, Joseph and wife, Leona, Pittston Township; grandchildren, Lee Ann Erlbaum and husband, Scott, Lafayette Hill; Dr. Nicholas Scarantino and wife, April, West Chester; Nicole Howells and husband, Walter, and John Drahus and wife, Jennifer, both of Pittston; son-in-law, John Drahus, Pittston; sister-in-law, Mary Scarantino; and great-grandhcildren, Mia, Jacob and Talia Erlbaum, Gabriella and Gianna Scarantino and Emily and Elizabeth Howells. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in Carmella's name to the Wesley Village Nursing Home, 209 Roberts Road, Pittston, PA 18640.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Township.

Viewing hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 9 a.m. Friday. Those who plan on attending should be at the funeral home by 8:30 a.m. Friday.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday from St. Joseph Marello Parish, William Street, Pittston.

Interment services will follow in St. Rocco's Cemetery, Pittston Township.
